I am so glad I had the opportunity to develop and oversee the latest issue of Knowledge Quest, which focuses on graphic novels and comic books, and their presence in school libraries. As a lifelong reader of comics, this issue is one of the biggest highlights for me as an editor. I was able to fuse my personal passion to my professional work to create something that is not only innovative and relevant to the school library field, but creatively important for many kids. It’s just not every day you get to merge the worlds you live in and make it matter.
I also contributed an online-exclusive feature for the issue, Graphic Novels for All Ages! It’s a free, interactive PDF that gives recommendations for all-ages graphic novels with links to print and video interviews with the talented creators who bring the characters and stories to life. The website also features a free podcast interview I did with Karen Gavigan, the glorious school librarian who guest edited the issue, and some other online resources I created.
